The Healing Cannabist

I've been medicating myself with marijuana since I was about 15 years old, although at the time I had no idea that's what I was actually doing.

I got my first full-blown migraine at age 15 - the kind that seriously makes you wish you would just die.  I can remember thinking exactly that - that I MUST be dying.  I was in excruciating pain for hours before I finally vomited and passed out.  When I woke up, I felt like I had a hangover.

Coincidentally, I also started using marijuana around age 15.  Fast-forward to age 21.  I met my husband, who was also a chronic marijuana user.  We married in 1993 and had a couple of children.  We both had run-ins with the law for our marijuana use and we both ended up with a criminal record.  I can remember, as a young mom, being scared and ashamed of my marijuana use but at the same time believing so strongly that I should not let society make me feel that way about a plant.  No one would care if I was calling my doctor and requesting Vicodin, Oxycontin, or Lorazepam!  So why did I care what they thought about me deciding to choose my own medicine for myself?  It took a long time for me to really get there.

In 2012, my family and I moved to California - specifically, northern California - where we all became medical marijuana patients and started to really learn about all the ways marijuana can medically help a person.  I was amazed and I started to learn as much as possible while in that accepting environment.  When I moved back to Massachusetts I immediately registered myself as a medical marijuana patient.  Although we passed a "legalization" law this past September (2016), it is being ripped apart and stomped on by the powers that be and we have no idea what the outcome will be for the actual "legality" of recreational marijuana in this state.  So for now, I highly recommend that you become a legal, registered medical marijuana patient if you are using marijuana/cannabis to treat yourself.  I recommend CannaCare Docs if you have an office you can get to.

So for now, I have learned to make all kinds of products to medicate myself and I would love to share my knowledge with you.  Some of the things you'll find here include recipes for cannabutter, canna oil, baked goods, ointments, tinctures, and links to many different sites where you can find even more information.  And if you have any questions, please feel free to ask - if I don't know the answer, I will go to the ends of the Earth to try to find it for you.  Peace.
